After many years as a fine art photographer, where my work was finished behind glass, I'm now happy to be making things that can be touched and used for warmth, as well as visual pleasure. Perhaps form and function can go hand-in-hand!
My quilts and pillow covers are designed, cut and pieced one-at-a-time. I use top quality, 100% cotton fabric, thread and batting. I favor straight forward, straight line rows of quilting stitches, hopefully further imbuing the work with a sense of utility. Each piece is washed and dried (conventional machines; gentle, cold and low) before leaving the shop and (although constructed to stand up to everyday use) can be made ready to hang. A gentle brush vacuum will keep the pieces tidy between washings.
Although designs may be repeated, no two quilts are exactly alike.
